There are few things in life as relaxing as the Spa. Whether you prefer a massage, a facial, or a body wrap, the right therapeutic massage treatment is the one that best fits your body’s needs and your personal preferences. Whether you visit the spa frequently or once in a blue moon, here are things to know before you go to the spa:
1) Watch what you eat
Try not to eat any heavy meals or consume alcohol. If you can, limit caffeine too. Being too full or too wired might make it difficult to relax and get comfortable. Have something light to eat instead.
2) Clean up
Take a warm to hot shower before your massage. Not only is it polite to be clean but the hot water can help open the muscles.
3) Get comfortable
If you are too shy to get a massage, simply undress to your comfort level. The most important is that you feel relaxed. The massage therapist can work around the body based on your preferences.
4) Speak your mind
If the pressure of your massage is too light or too heavy during a massage, say something. Your massage therapist wants to hear from you. If you give your therapist your preference, he or she typically gauges pressure according to your muscle tension.
5) Take it easy
Take it easy and don’t do anything too strenuous right after spending time at the spa. Otherwise you may find yourself becoming lightheaded.
6) Arrive early
Arrive at least half an hour early for your appointment. This gives you a chance to relax and fill out any paper work they might have. You will also have ample time to get accustomed to the spa’s environment.
Drink lots of water while there to keep yourself hydrated.
8) Snooze without losing.
Don’t be afraid to fall asleep. Many people feel sleepy when immersed in this calming cocoon. Don’t jump right up and run out. Take it easy. You may even want someone else to drive you home.
9) Always employ good manners
Saying “please” and “thank you” to staff costs nothing, nor does being courteous to other guests.
10) Be aware of cancellation policies
If you need to cancel a spa visit /treatment, always inform the spa as quickly as possible so your slot can be filled by another guest. Bear in mind that refunds may not be possible, should you cancel less than 48 hours before the booked date.
